Southwest Motorcycle Training is a family owned and operated business specializing in teaching the public how to ride a motorcycle safely and still have fun. We offer classes for ages 15 and up. If you’re under 25 years old, you must first have a valid class C learner’s permit or an unrestricted class C license. We are licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF).  Let us show you what being in business since 1992 can do for you. Call for more information and be sure to mention that you saw us on the Web!

Sign up for the Basic Riders Course if you haven’t had much experience or if you’ve never ridden at all.  We also get a lot of requests for the basic course from riders who rode ten or twenty years ago and want to re-enter the sport with an advantage.  It’s a terrific way to remember how to ride. If you’re under 25 years old, you must first have a valid class C learner’s permit or an unrestricted class C license.  To obtain your M endorsement in Texas you must complete the Basic Course first. The state requires an on-cycle evaluation, when applying for a Texas motorcycle driver’s license, if you’re under 18 years of age. Check with your insurance agent to see if your insurance company offers discounted rates upon completion.

Prior to attending the Basic Riders Course you will have to complete the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Basic eCourse (ep1).  It’s an online course designed to get you in the proper frame of mind for learning and it helps prepare you for the hands-on course.  The eCourse takes approximately 5 hours to complete and you can split it up into more than one session if you desire.  MSF charges $39.99 for the eCourse, however, once you sign up and pay for your Basic Rider Course we will provide you with an access code and a link to the MSF Learning Center so it won’t cost you anything!  As a bonus, you can go back and take the eCourse as many times as you like for no additional fee.  Once you’ve successfully completed the eCourse you will be provided with an opportunity to print your completion certificate.  Make sure you do this as you will need the certificate to attend the hands-on portion of the course.

In the basic course, we teach you how to operate a motorcycle, the best protective clothing to wear, how to avoid dangerous situations, and how to get out of those dangerous situations you can’t avoid.

You learn how to make your motorcycle perform like an extension of yourself.  The best part is you don’t even need a helmet or motorcycle.  We provide them for you.

Payment must be made in advance and is non-refundable if you cancel your appearance without 72 hours prior notice.  Under certain circumstances (military/1st responder/educator) payment options may vary, call to see if you qualify.
